Main people involved in the killing not yet arrested

MARDAN: Another suspect in the Mashal Khan’s lynching case accepted charges levelled against him on Monday, bringing the total number of those who have accepted the charges to five.

The court proceedings resumed on Monday as police produced eight suspects before the anti-terrorism court Mardan.

Four of the suspects were handed over to the police on four-day physical remand while the rest of the four were produced before the judicial magistrate to record their statements.

Among the four suspects, an AWKU student, Sudais, accepted the charges leveled against him while the rest of the three denied being involved in the lynching.

Mardan police have so far arrested 36 people while the main people involved in the brutal killing of Mashal Khan have not yet been arrested.

Abdul Wali Khan University, however, remained closed 11 days after the incident.
