Man found dead near Sabzi Mandi

Officials believe that the man apparently died of natural causes

ISLAMABAD: A man, said to be suffering from a psychological disorder, was found dead near Sabzi Mandi on Saturday.

Officials, however, believe that the man apparently died of natural causes. According to police, 26-year-old Samiullah had been found dead on the green belt near the Sabzi Mandi. An initial inspection by officers of the homicide investigation unit revealed no visible marks of either injury, torture or trauma.



The body was then shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an autopsy and legal formalities. But Samiullah’s family refused to allow the procedure and secured and exemption from carrying out an autopsy.

Subsequently, police agreed to shut the case terming its death due to natural causes and handed over Samiullah’s body to his family after completing other legal formalities.



Officials said that Samiullah’s family told them that the young man had been brought to the capital from his native Bannu by his relatives for psychological treatment.

However, on April 19, Samiullah allegedly fled his relatives’ home in Sector I-10. The family also lodged a missing person report with the Sabzi Mandi police for him the same day.

Nevertheless, the devastated family did not get to see him alive again. After his body was found on Saturday, police contacted Samiullah’s family and asked them to come to the morgue to identify him.
