ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his sons, directing them to comply with the Panamagate verdict "as and when required." The development comes a day after the top court ordered the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to further probe the premier family's offshore assets.

The court ruled, on Thursday, that there wasn't enough evidence to disqualify the premier but that he, and his sons Hussain and Hasan Nawaz, was to appear before the JIT.

"Take notice that the judgement in the above cited constitutional petitions has been announced by the court on 20.04.2017 with the following directions," a notice sent by the implementation branch of the apex court to the premier and his son's Advocate on Record (AoR) stated.

"The JIT shall investigate the case and collect evidence, if any, showing that Respondent No 1 or any of his dependents or benamidars own, possess or have acquired assets or any interest therein disproportionate to his known means of income."

"Respondents No 1, 7 and 8 are directed to appear and associate themselves with the JIT as and when required" the notice said, "You are, therefore, required to make compliance of the directions reproduced herein above in letter and spirit."

Meanwhile, the SC office sent a copy of the judgment to several departments including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Military Intelligence (MI) through the defence ministry. A copy of the notice has also been sent to the premier's secretary.
