ISLAMABAD: Commuters have been facing traffic jams at the Islamabad Expressway from Gulberg Green Interchange to Rawat due to delays in widening of the Expressway. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) began widening the Expressway from Zero point to Rawat in four phases, but has managed to complete only two phases so far. Model Town resident Humak Sabir Hussain said the expansion of Islamabad expressway was sorely needed since there were recurrent traffic jams during rush hours, road congestion, and prolonged delays during commute to and from work. A CDA official, meanwhile, said the widening and construction work on other parts of the Expressway would begin soon. The 24-kilometer-long Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Rawat would be expanded to five lanes on each side, he said.
