Volleyball event kicks off in Lahore

Pakistan Police were off to a positive start in the 46th National Men’s Volleyball Championship when they beat Higher Education Commission in straight sets on the opening day which also saw Punjab, Railway, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Army win their matches.


Punjab beat Sindh 3-1, Railway overpowered AJK 3-1 and Army outplayed Balochistan 3-0, giving their opponents a tough time.

Police, with the help of Nasir Khan and Kashif Mansoor, dominated proceedings with their attacking approach, winning the match 25-13,25-14,25-12.

Railways dropped the second set before beating a spirited AJK 25-22, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-13 while Army had an easy sailing against Balochistan with a 25- 15, 25-17, 25-13 win.

In another match, K-P carved out a comfortable 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-17) win over Fata after dominating the match from the start.

Day two will see Navy, Army, Pakistan Airforce, defending champions Wapda and Punjab take on Fata, Sind, HEC, AJK and Balochistan.
