MUZAFFARABAD: To facilitate litigants, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court (AJKHC) on Saturday launched its official website.

AJKHC Chief Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal formally launched the portal (www.ajkhighcourt.gok.pk) in a ceremony.

Chief Justice Mughal said that modern era was one of information technology where everybody wants to know about everything through web portals and websites.  He added that keeping this in view, they had decided to launch a website for the court so that people living in the valley and outside the country can easily determine the status of their cases.

“More than 800,000 Kashmiris who are living abroad can now find about their court cases and other related issues through the website,” CJ Mughal said.  Terming it a big achievement, he said that details of thousands of cases at the court have been uploaded to the website.

“The credit [for the website] goes to the Information Technology Department whose employees made it [the website] a story of success,” AJKHC CJ Justice Mughal added. Information Technology Board Secretary Mansoor Qadir Dar said that developing the website was a hectic assignment which the board and its staffers completed within the short span of three months.

The website would provide litigants status of their cases, the full summary of judgments along with updates about court proceedings. Dar further said that they had trained around 40,000 people who are now working in different government departments and educational institutions to promote online and e-governance in the region.
