QWP sees conspiracy in five-year Fata merger plan

QWP chief also urged for greater unity amongst Pakhtuns

SHABQADAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief has termed the five-year-plan of merging the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as a conspiracy against the merger and called for Fata’s immediate inclusion in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Aftab Sherpao was addressing a news conference on Sunday where Awami National Party’s former district council member Ashaq Ali joined his party. During the media talk the QWP chief also urged for greater unity amongst Pakhtuns.

The National Assembly member said: “We [QWP] demand Fata merger without any delay.” He added that PM Nawaz and his allies have put a five-year condition on the merger which is a conspiracy and will never be accepted.

Sherpao also lashed out at the PM for the 20 hours load shedding in most parts of K-P, saying the PM has ended power shortages in Punjab while ignoring K-P. He added that if the province was deprived of its right then its effects will not be in favour of the federation.

The lawmaker also showed concern over the alleged racial profiling of Pakhtuns in Punjab and Sindh and the attack on Pakhtun cultural programme in Punjab University.

Sherpao urged for the defusing of tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan for the betterment of Pakhtuns across the border. He added that both countries have the same culture and religion and both should solve all outstanding issue through mutual consultations.
