Lawyers call for restoring quota system

Murtaza said that if the quota system of 1992 was not restored then the lawyers of Balochistan will launch a protest

QUETTA: The former president of Supreme Court Bar Association, Kamran Murtaza, has demanded the restoration of the quota system act of 1992. He has also urged that the judges of the subordinate courts and Qazis should be recruited on basis of the quota in Balochistan.

He was speaking at a news conference along with senior lawyers, including Ataullah Langove, Shah Muhammad Jatoi, Muhammad Amin Kakar and others in Quetta on Saturday.

Murtaza said that if the quota system of 1992 was not restored then the lawyers of Balochistan will launch a protest.

He said that the people of interior Balochistan cannot compete with the candidates from Quetta for vacancies of judges and Qazis. He was of the view that the people of interior Balochistan were not enjoying the educational facilities which are available in Quetta.

Murtaza said that through restoring a quota system the sense of deprivation of the people of interior Balochistan could be removed.

He said that he and other lawyers have also had a meeting with the chief justice of Balochistan High Court in this regard. He also said Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri had also assured to implement a divisional quota but he could see no progress in this regard.
