Five of a family killed in road accident

The passenger van hit a parked tractor trolley due to over speeding

CHINIOT: Five members of an extended family were killed while 16 others sustained injuries in a road accident on Chiniot-Lahore Road, on Thursday.

Police said Farooqabad-based extended family was going to Mankera Bhakkar in a van to attend an engagement function when their van hit a parked tractor trolley due to over speeding near Thatha Galotran Stop at Lahore-Chiniot Road. As a result, Deen Muhammad, his wife Mumtaz Bibi, Hasnain, Sumera and Abdul Rehman received serious injuries and died on the spot whereas 16 others were shifted to a local hospital from where four were referred to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad due to their critical condition.

Among those referred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad include Muhammad Shafiq, Noor Fatima, Kalsoom Bibi, and Robina Bibi whereas Jahanzaib, Faizan Bibi, Zeenat Bibi, Raza Ali, Ghulam Fatima, Imran, Ataullah, Iftikhar and others were admitted in DHQ Hospital, Chiniot.
