The labourers were working in the katcha area of Andal Sundrani

A senior official of the Petroleum Ministry said that the company wants early settlement of the entire circular debt.

SUKKUR: Bandits ambushed a group of labourers working for a private contractor of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited in Ghotki and kidnapped 14 of them, officials said on Saturday.  Five labourers, however, managed to elude their captors.

The labourers were working in the katcha area of Andal Sundrani when bandits led by notorious dacoit Sharif Bhangwar encircled them and held them hostage.

The five labourers, who somehow gave their abductors the slip, found their way to the camp office and informed the contractor.

The kidnappers insist the land the contractor was working on was theirs and they (kidnappers) were not compensated for the same.

SSP Ghotki Masood Bangash confirmed the incident to The Express Tribune and stated that the labourers were taken hostage because their demands for compensation had not been met.
