Lawmakers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in attacks by street dog s across Karachi, particularly in Quaidabad and surrounding areas, where women, children, and even police personnel have been mauled.

In a joint statement, MQM-P Haqparast members of the Sindh Assembly accused the provincial government and municipal authorities of criminal negligence, saying citizens are now caught between street criminals and street dogs. They cited the recent attack on a woman and a police officer in Quaidabad as a glaring example of administrative failure.

The MQM members demanded urgent action, including citywide campaigns to cull or sterilise stray dogs and immediate supply of vaccines to all government hospitals. They warned that without emergency steps, public insecurity and frustration will continue to grow.

Six cases of dog bites were registered in Bagh Korangi in a single day, most of them involving children.

The injured were shifted to Indus Hospital, where Rabies Prevention Clinic Manager Dr Aftab Gohar confirmed that wounds were cleaned and anti-rabies vaccines administered in line with medical guidelines.

He added that the victims sustained severe injuries to their faces, shoulders, and hands, raising suspicion that they were attacked by rabid dogs.
