ISLAMABAD:
Additional Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Zafar Qureshi said on Monday that the agency has solid evidence regarding Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MPA Moonis Elahi's involvement in the NICL scam.
The FIA official made this claim during the hearing of National Insurance Corporation corruption case. The Supreme Court has rejected PML-Q leaders' request to remove Zafar Quershi as the inquiry officer.
The FIA and DG Commercial Audit submitted their reports regrading the scam.
Quershi informed the court that the FIA had recovered more than Rs3 billion from Habibullah Warraich while Rs600 million were to be recovered.
According to the report of the DG Commercial Audit Farrukh Ahmed, embezzlements amounting Rs7.5 billion have been detected in the purchase of land by the NICL.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad heard the case and adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
On Friday, a judicial magistrate had sent Moonis Elahi on a three-day judicial remand and had ordered the FIA to present him in court on March 21.
