ISLAMABAD: Traffic police in the twin cities on Friday issued a traffic plan for Pakistan Day.

According to the plan, the entrance of heavy vehicles to Islamabad would be banned from 12am on March 18 to 1pm. On March 19, the ban would stay in effect from 6am to 1pm. Traffic would not be allowed from Zero Point to Faizabad, Khanna Pul to Zero Point, Rawal Dam to Zero Point right up to Shakarparian Road Helipad and the picket near Best Western Hotel.

Similarly, the entrance of heavy vehicles would be banned in Islamabad from midnight to 1 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

On parade day, March 23, the entrance of heavy vehicles would be banned from Zero Point to Faizabad, Khanna Pul to Zero Point, Rawal Dam to Zero Point right up to Shakarparian Road Helipad and the picket near Best Western Hotel.

Traffic coming from Lahore would be able to reach motorway after passing through the Peshawar-GT Road-Rawat crossing and the Rawalpindi-Saddar Road.

Traffic coming from the airport would reach Kashmir Highway and G sectors of the capital through the Expressway then use Khanna Pul, Lehtrar Road and turn left from Taramri Chowk toward Rawal Dam Chowk and then towards Kashmir Chowk. Traffic can also move towards Bhara Kahu and Murree through Kashmir Chowk.

General transport on IJP Road would turn towards Faizabad Flyover and then Ninth Avenue and Kashmir Highway. Traffic coming from Rawalpindi would divert towards stadium through Murree Road till Ninth Avenue on Kashmir Highway.

On the parade day, Faizabad Interchange would be shut for all kinds of traffic.

Moreover, only people having invitation cards would be allowed to travel from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point and Faizabad and from Murree Road Rawal Dam Chowk till Faizabad.

The motorists have been asked to display the special stickers issued by the administration on their windscreensand carry their CNICs.

Pindi plan

Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) finalised arrangements to ensure free movement of traffic in the city on March 23.

According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Yousaf Ali Shahid, more than usual traffic wardens would be deployed on March 23 to regulate traffic on the roads.

He said that traffic from Faizabad to Rawalpindi and Islamabad would be suspended on March 23.
