Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer in collaboration with Intel and Google has launched its latest Android smartwatch called the Connected Modular 45.

The Modular 45 is TAG Heuer’s second installment in Android wearables following its 'Connected' smartwatch which was launched last year. The watch manufacturer has, however, taken a new approach with its latest product as the Modular 45 now comes with interchangeable parts making it a lot more versatile than its predecessor.

The 'Connected' module features a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen display covered in 2.5mm sapphire crystal glass and a titanium casing. Internal specs include an Intel Atom Z34XX processor, 4GB of memory, WiFi, GPS, more than 24 hours of battery life and water resistance up to 50 meters.

The smartwatch also comes with Android Wear 2.0, which means better navigation, NFC support and a standalone app store, so you can use it with an iPhone as well.

The latest smartwatch by TAG Heuer is also the "first Swiss-made connected watch" which gives users the option to switch the 45mm Connected module with a purely Swiss-made mechanical option that transforms it into an 'ordinary' luxury timepiece.

TAG Heuer currently offers two options that are the Calibre 5 and the much more premium Heuer 02T Tourbillon, which the company claims has "the most accurate mechanical movements around.” This also means that users will still be able to have a high-end TAG Heuer wrist watch even if the 'Connected' module gets outdated.

In addition to this, users also have the option to swap straps, buckles and lugs on the new smartwatch. The core Connected Modular 45 range consists of 11 different designs; the watch module comes in either silver or black, while the straps are available in rubber, leather, titanium or ceramicand in a slew of different colors.

TAG Heuer also offers 45 additional options, which include premium materials like patent leather, rose gold and even diamonds. That amounts to a grand total of 56 different designs and, according to the company, over 500 different design combinations.

TAG Heuer’s Connected Module 45 will set you back $1,650 for the base model, which some might thing is high for a smartwatch, however interchangeable parts also mean that users can get a full luxury watch as well at a discounted price.
