LAHORE: A Crime Investigation Agency police officer was killed while his colleague was injured during a raid in the Tibbi City area of Lahore on Tuesday.

A police team had gone on a reconnaissance mission to a criminal hideout. Ghaziabad CIA constables Zafar Iqbal and Rizwan along with another man went ahead as the others waited outside. But the suspects opened fire at the policemen as soon as they saw them.

Both the policemen were shot as the suspects fled the scene. They were shifted to Mayo Hospital, where Zafar succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other two men was stated to be critical.

Tibbi City police have registered a case against unidentified suspects. A senior police officer said some insider might have informed the suspects about the raid.

Shehbaz Sharif has ordered   an investigation and directed the CCPO to arrest the accused. He also directed authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured policemen.

Constable Zafar was born in 1976 and joined the police force on September 30, 1996. The victim is survived by his wife and three children.
