High-level security meeting stresses need to push efforts on implementation of NAP

ISLAMABAD: The participants of a high-level security meeting held on Monday vowed to completely eliminate terrorism from the country and paid rich tributes to the military personnel and civilians killed during the ongoing operations in the country.

Presiding over the meeting at PM House, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the new countrywide anti-terrorist offensive launched last month.

The premier, who was given a detailed update on the progress and achievements made in the operation so far, also directed participants to expedite the continuing crackdown.

The participants lauded the efforts and sacrifices of the armed forces and civilians in the bid to restore peace in the country, fighting terrorism.

It was reiterated that the elimination of terrorism from the country were policy imperatives for Pakistan's security, saying the enemies of peace would never be allowed to regroup.

The meeting also stressed the need to push efforts on the countrywide implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) by the centre, as well as the provincial governments.

The continuing developments across the Pak-Afghan border, which was sealed after the February terror attacks, also came under discussion.

The participants of the meeting included Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, National Security Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, and ISI DG Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, among others.
