Pakistanis in Japan are safe: FO

Pakistanis living around the troubled nuclear plants are safe, Foreign Office spokesperson informs.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis living around the troubled nuclear plants are safe, Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said on Saturday. She said that there were around 70 Pakistanis living around the nuclear plants who have now moved to safer places.

Janjua said that teams of the Pakistani embassy in Japan were regularly visiting various affected areas with relief goods. Tehmina Janjua said there was neither an emergency situation in Japan nor the government has announced so, however, with regard to incidents at nuclear plants, the government has taken numerous safety measures. Pakistan’s ambassador to Japan, Noor Muhammad Jadmai, said a call centre – with numbers 00-81-8042014849 and 00-81-8035195307, has been established at the Pakistani embassy in Tokyo to provide assistance to the Pakistani citizens.

He said that as many as 9,500 Pakistanis are living in Japan and about 300 of them live around the areas affected by the nuclear crisis.
