Two illegal immigrants among six suspects arrested in Karachi

Rangers took six suspects into custody during raids in the city

KARACHI: At least six suspects, including illegal immigrants, were apprehended by Rangers during ongoing targeted raids in parts of the metropolis on Friday.

A militant of banned outfit Jamaatul Ahrar was arrested during a raid conducted by Rangers personnel at Jackson market area of Keamari.

The arrested man was identified as Faisal alias Okasha. Rangers spokesperson said that the arrested militant, who provided financial and logistical support to the militants of Jamaatul Ahrar and was involved in extortion activities, received training from Afghanistan.

Rangers also claimed to have recovered arms, ammunitions and explosives from his possession.

Rangers arrest eight suspects during raids in Karachi

Two more suspects were arrested during a targeted raid by Rangers in Kharadar area. The suspects were identified as Kaleem Qureshi and Noman alias Nomi.

The arrested men belonged to the militant wing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, said the Rangers spokesperson, adding that they had been involved in various cases of target killings, china-cutting and cybercrimes.

In another raid conducted at PIB Colony, Rangers personnel arrested two illegal immigrants, one belonging to Bangladesh and the other to Burma. They were living illegally in Pakistan, said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, an alleged drug peddler was arrested during a raid in Mobina Town area of the city. The accused was identified as Abdur Rehman. Narcotics were also recovered from his possession.
