Spurious pesticide sellers to face the music

Strict action to be taken to rootout the malpractice of manufacturing and selling substandard fertilizers & pesticides

BAHAWALPUR: The government has devised a comprehensive plan to take action against manufacturers and dealers selling spurious and sub-standard pesticides & fertilizers in Bahawalpur division.

This was said by Bahawalpur commissioner while presiding over a meeting of divisional task force on Wednesday.

Spurious fertilisers: Drive against dealers launched in Sargodha 

The meeting was attended by Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal, Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Jamil Ahmad Jamil and others.

The commissioner said, “Effective measures should be taken to boost the agro economy.”

He said strict action should be taken to root-out the malpractice of manufacturing and selling spurious & sub standard fertilizers & pesticides. He urged the officials of agriculture department to launch a comprehensive campaign to streamline the agri-sector on modern lines.

Agriculture : ‘Consult growers on cotton support price’

On the occasion, the officials told the meeting that agriculture department collected 731 samples of pesticides and of them, 33 samples were found substandard. They said 30 FIRs were registered against the violators while pesticides worth Rs0.7 million were destroyed during the last year.
