A police official said Abdul Majeed, a resident of Basti Karbala, Block B, Model Town lodged a complaint at the police station in which he stated that his 12-year-old son Muhammad Adeel went to school on March 4 but did not return home. He added they searched for him everywhere but could not find him and feared that he might have been kidnapped.
Shikarpur police recover kidnapped men a day later
The official maintained the police registered the case under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code and started investigation. However, he said, “During the course of investigation, the kidnappers called the victim’s father on the cellphone and demanded Rs100,000 as ransom.
He said, “The police managed to trace the phone call and later it transpired that the accused caller was Abdul Majeed’s nephew Zameer.” He pointed out the police immediately raided a hideout and nabbed the culprit.
During interrogation, Zameer confessed to kidnapping Adeel with the help of his friend Kashif.
He revealed that they received Rs20,000 from the victim’s father but killed the boy as he knew their identity and they feared being caught.
The police recovered the body on the pointation of the accused and handed it to the family after postmortem. The police was conducting raids to arrest Kashif.

Meanwhile, Civil Lines Station House Officer Abdul Razzaq told The Express Tribune, “The police initiated proceedings soon after the complaint was registered by the victim’s father.”
He added, “We arrested the criminal within 12 hours and Zameer is the nephew of the victim’s father,” he said.
