LAHORE: Increased educational opportunities for women are directly linked to higher economic productivity, said Punjab Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Minister Khalil Tahir Sandhu on Monday. He was visiting Kinnaird College for Women, where he said the Punjab government had taken concrete steps to ensure improved access to health and education for women. Sandhu said the college had extended its full cooperation to the Punjab government to empower women and introduce concrete legislation against violence or harassment. He said a weak support system, conservative attitude, male-dominated institutions and lack of legal awareness at the grass-roots level left vulnerable women unable to access justice. “The Punjab government, through its strong legislation and implementation, has made it possible to safeguard the rights of women.
