Protesting violence: Bhutto clansmen accuse police of arson

SUKKUR:

Bhutto clansmen staged a sit-in near Qazi Wah on Friday to protest alleged manhandling and arson by the Andal Sundrani police.

Following the orders of the district and sessions court, Ghotki, Andal Sundrani SHO Qazi Bachal raided Wasti Inayat Shah village to find a woman, Pathani, wife of Mohammad Bux Bhutto. The police started to search the houses but the residents resisted and attacked them. The SHO and another policeman were injured. Infuriated at the beating, the police allegedly manhandled residents and then torched two homes.

Later, the residents blocked the road near Qazi Wah and shouted slogans against the police. Meanwhile, Ghotki SP Investigations Yar Mohammad Rind negotiated with the protesters and assured them of justice.

Rind told The Express Tribune that the police had raided the village but they had not burnt anything.

A few days ago, Muhammad Bux Bhutto filed a petition in the district and sessions court, Ghotki, saying that his brothers-in-law, Mataro and Jewan Bhutto, had declared his wife, Pathani, kari and then kidnapped her. Bux was scared they would kill his wife. The court then ordered the police to recover Pathani.
