Indecent burial: Japanese man buried alive under six tons of 'dirty' magazines

The body could only be discovered six months after the incident

In an intriguing occurrence, a Japanese man who had stockpiled six tonnes of pornographic magazines died when a stack collapsed on him, with his body only discovered after six months.

The man, identified as Joji, was believed to be living alone. His body was found when the landlord visited the flat he was living in to inquire as to why the rent had not been paid, Daily Mail reported.

According to a member of the team that 'cleaned' the flat, they were hired to rid to remove the magazines in a way that would not invite the attention of neighbours and the deceased's family in order to avoid shame.



It is, however, unclear if the 50-year-old carmaker died of a heart attack and fell into the stacks or if he was crushed under the burden of the paper mass.

The cleaner went on to add that even if the man was still conscious, the paper would have swaddled his cries for help. The magazines were littered in the flat, as these were also stacked on the shelves and tables.



Clippings from pornographic magazines at the place also showed that the man had separated his favourite articles but had not trashed the rest.

The paper material found at the apartment weighed no less than six metric tonnes (13,228 pounds).
