Energy projects: Austrian delegation calls on Punjab CM

The delegation shows keen interest in extending cooperation in hydropower projects

LAHORE: A high-level delegation, led by Ambassador of Austria Dr Brigitta Blaha, called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday. Different matters of mutual interest including promotion of bilateral relations and extending cooperation in different sectors were discussed during the meeting.

The delegation showed keen interest in extending cooperation in hydropower projects, especially small hydro projects and electricity production from solid waste. Speaking on the occasion, Sharif said that Pakistan and Austria have good friendly relations and there is a need to further extend trade and economic ties between the two countries.

He said that work on energy projects worth thousands of megawatts was in progress. Blaha said that Austria has expertise in hydropower sector and cooperation in this regard would be extended to the Punjab government.
