Mohmand attack: Pro-govt tribal elder dies in blast

SHABQADAR: A pro-government tribal elder was killed and his wife was injured in an IED blast in the Mohmand Agency, an administration official said on Wednesday.

An improvised explosive device was planted on the path leading up to the home of Bahadur Khan in the Dawizai area of Pandyali tehsil. The explosion occurred just as the couple passed over it.

Subsequently, security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Meanwhile, security forces in the tribal agency remained on high alert a week after the Ghallanai suicide attack.

The main entrance, damaged during the attack, remained closed.

Officials of the political administration have installed an electronic walk-through gate on the alternative entrance and higher walls are being built to secure the compound.

Main Ghallanai and Ekka Ghund bazaars remained deserted after local people restricted their movement.
