SAINT LUCIA: Australia took down Pakistan in a closely contested match at the World Twenty20 semi-final, which saw the Aussies pull through despite the green shirts putting up an epic 191 runs on the board.

For Pakistan, Kamran Akmal made an outstanding 50, while Umar Akmal followed up with a half-century of his own.

The Australian innings saw an aggressive attack by the top order, and although Pakistan were able to take critical wickets to turn the pressure up Australia came through with 197/7.

Australia will now face England in Sunday’s final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, after Paul Collingwood’s side convincingly defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the first semi-final at Beausejour on Thursday.

Good match! i am shell shocked but I guess we can get to the same level of professionalism the aussies displayed..better strategy, physical and mental toughness required. We have the talent but just need the killer instinct! Thanks for putting up a fight against the no.1 team in the world! enjoyed the match...better team won! Back to the drawing board.

Australians are one of the most professional squads of the world, their professionalism in every department of cricket is far ahead of us as they follow proper cricketing methods. If we had won this match or even the cup we would not have improved our major shortcomings exposed earlier in this tournament. Inconsistency or unpredictability is not something to be proud of, for PCB its high time to work out on their weaknesses and try to achieve a level of consistency and professionalism to bring team Pakistan on victory stand.

Hassan | 13 years ago | Reply Pakistan were terrible, why was Ajmal bowling the last over ? it should have been Aamir, Bad captaincy to allow that. Australia needed 18 runs in 6 balls, whice tips the balance towards the bowling team, i can almost say with certainty that had that been Australia bowling they would not have allowed Pakistan to score 18 runs in 6 balls. Disapointed especially after the great work by the Paki batsmen.

I am not disappointed with the performance of Pakistani Cricket Team. They tried their best to win the match, but couldn’t. In games, teams win and lose. If Pakistan lost the match, it does not mean that Pakistan will never won the match. We should give more time to our national cricket team players to organize more efficiently.
