Changes in drug law: ‘No compromise on drug quality’

LAHORE: The government has made it clear to the pharmaceutical and chemists associations it will not compromise on the quality of medicines and will continue legal action against black sheep in the medicine sector.

Pharmaceutical industry representatives called on provincial ministers. Both the parties presented their viewpoints regarding the amendments to the drug act.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said necessary regulations should be devised by forming a committee comprising five people from the drug-manufacturing firms so that progress could be made.

Information Minister Shujaur Rehman said the government was serious in eliminating spurious medicines.

The pharma industry representatives vowed spurious drugs would not be tolerated.
