Plan formulation: Panel on judges security notified

The committee will submit its recommendations within 15 days to the interior secretary

ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry notified a three-member committee formed to formulate a comprehensive plan on the security for the judges of the Supreme Court and Federal Shariat Court.

The committee was also mandated to analyse the security needs of the judges, besides proposing other steps to ensure their safety.

The committee is headed by the National Public Safety Commission (NPSC) director Kaleem Imam while Islamabad IG Tariq Masood and NACTA DG Umar Shaikh are its members.

The committee will submit its recommendations within 15 days to the interior secretary, sources said.

A few days ago, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had directed the interior secretary to ensure the security of court buildings, judicial and law officers.

Former president of the SCBA Barrister Ali Zafar said that the legal fraternity and judiciary were constantly under attack.
