Trade with Kyrgyzstan to be enhanced

KARACHI:

Pakistan is expected to sign trade agreements with Kyrgyzstan in coming days, after Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali departed for the Central Asian country on Tuesday.

During the two-day visit, memoranda of understanding (MoU) are to be signed on trade cooperation and improvement of relations, in the presence of Kyrgyzstan president and president of the Kyrgyzstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speaking to the media prior to departure, Ghulam Ali said that FPCCI was playing its role in enhancing trade relations with Asian countries, increasing exports and ensuring greater availability of local products in foreign markets.

The expected signing of MoUs justifies the claim that the government has prioritised industrial success. Ali stressed the need for similar visits to other nations, so Pakistan could maximise its trade potential and access more global markets for exports.

Ali expressed hope that the prime minister’s visit would not only strengthen ties between the two countries, but also bring investors of both countries closer, while also increasing the volume of bilateral trade.
