The play was staged on February 15 and February 16. Directed by Madeeha Gohar, the opening day of the production witnessed a large number of audience members.
The plight of Pakistani theatre
“The play depicts the terrifying world of three guilt-ridden scepters who have lived the bloodied times during 1947 and 1971. They are surreal figures caught in a web of internal guilt and condemnation. The seek escape from the horrendous memories which engulf them but there is no respite, no salvation as they plunge further into the abyss of despair in the city of sorrow,” Gohar explained. The play was earlier performed by the Ajoka Theatre in 2004 in the presence of Hussain.
10 things Pakistani theatre should do
According to Gohar, the Ajoka Theatre has always highlighted social issues through its plays to spread awareness – and they have been performed and appreciated all over the world.
