
Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif chaired a cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat yesterday where three draft bills were approved. The meeting approved draft bills of Punjab Food Safety & Standard Authority Act 2011, the Walled City of Lahore Act 2010 as well as an Online Legislation Project for promoting public awareness regarding the laws of provincial departments.
The meeting also decided to enhance the quotas for widows, martyrs’ families, orphans and the disabled in Aashiyana Housing Project from five per cent to 10 per cent and to adopt a comprehensive system for complete verification of the applications for allotment of houses.
The CM said an autonomous Food Authority will ensure availability of quality foodstuff. A committee, headed by the law minister, was named to select members of the authority.
Granting approval to the Walled City of Lahore Act 2010, the CM said, legislation will also be undertaken for the conservation of cultural heritage in other cities of the province. He said the Online Access to the Substantive and Subordinate Legislation Project will promote public awareness of government departments and the rules under which they operate.
