A student of NED University of Engineering and Technology, Waqar Hussain Narejo, son of Qalandar Bux Narejo, was said to have been called by his friends on the night of February 11 and taken to a deserted place in the outskirts of his hometown. He was a resident of Makhdoom Muhalla Khuhra. After being taken there, Waqar was killed mercilessly by being attacked with wooden clubs and iron rods.
The victim's brother, Muhammad Ali Narejo, lodged an FIR against six people including, Piyar Ali Khaskheli, Feroze Ali Khaskheli, Rafiq Ahmed Jindan, Altaf Hussain Jamali, Ghulam Jindan and Jawed Sial at the Gambat police station.
In his statement to the police, Muhammad said that, on the night of the incident, accused Piyar Ali called his brother on the phone and asked him to come out.
"My brother went out and didn't return until late night so we started searching for him but failed," said Muhammad, adding that after killing his brother, one of the accused, Piyar Ali, was allegedly on his way to his house to wash his blood-stained clothes when the area people caught him and handed him over to the police.
Piyar Ali used to demand money from my brother and sometime ago they had sent a letter to our home demanding Rs200,000, said Muhammad, adding that they killed his brother because they did not give them the money.
Meanwhile, Gambat police have arrested five of accused booked in the FIR and a search for the sixth accused Jawed Sial is under way.
