Swat murders: Police register FIRs of suspected honour crimes

The police suspect the father and uncle to be behind the killing

SWAT: Police have registered two first information reports of suspected cases of honour killings in different areas of Swat during the past 24 hours.

Twenty-five-year-old Shabeena was shot and injured in her native village of Shawar, situated in Matta tehsil. The woman later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

Though the police have registered a case against unidentified men they suspect the father and uncle to be behind the killing.

Police are investigating the matter and raids are being conducted to apprehend the culprits.

In a similar incident, a man killed his daughter allegedly in the name of honour in the remote Sagal area of Kalam Valley on Sunday.

Ayaz Khan, an official at the Kalam police station, said that local people had told police that the man had killed his daughter for unspecified reasons. “We are going to raid the house and apprehend the parents of the slain woman,” Ayaz said.
