GILGIT: Unidentified gunmen broke into the house of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) deputy director on Wednesday morning and attempted to set his house on fire.

They also fired in the air apparently to create panic.

According to sources, Abdul Majid was asleep at his house in Jutial when it was attacked by unidentified assailants at 7:00am after breaking the doors. However, no one was injured in the incident.

According to another source, the assailants set the main door on fire before leaving.

The NAB official, after hearing gunfire, had taken shelter in a neighbour’s house.

The police have registered a case against unidentified men.

“We have launched an investigation, and seeking help from agencies and checking CCTV footage,” DIG Gohar Nafees told The Express Tribune. “We are confident to arrest the men.”

Talking to The Express Tribune, chief minister Hafeezur Rehman said the culprits would be arrested at all cost.

NAB has been investigating cases of corruption in G-B for quite some time now and attacking an official is the first incident of its kind.
