Death anniversary: Celebrating Jalib

Revolutionary poet Habib Jalib's death anniversary commemorated at the Alhamra Art Centre.

LAHORE: Poet Habib Jalib’s death anniversary was commemorated by the Habib Jalib Foundation (HJF) at the Alhamra Art Centre on March 12.

Tahira Habib Jalib highlighted that Abid Hassan Minto, SM Zafar, Munnoo Bhai, Sangeeta, Syed Noor, Oria Maqbool, Feroza Arbab, Haider Khursheed and attended he event and spoke about the poet.

The event also featured the launch of a book by the late poet’s daughter Rakhshanda Habib Jalib. Jalib was born on March 12,1928 and worked as proof reader and a writer.

He was imprisoned several times for his revolutionary ideas. During the Zia regime, Jalib joined the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy.

Habib Jalib passed away on March 12,1993. In 2009 he was decorated posthumously.
