
Under the plan, vehicle dealers will be authorised to register vehicles and issue number plates in order to facilitate citizens.
This was said by Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani while chairing a joint meeting of Punjab Excise & Taxation Department officers and vehicle dealers on Thursday.
The DC told the meeting the Punjab government had taken maximum benefit from advance information technology for raising the standard of departmental services for ensuring complete good governance.

He said the citizens were being provided every possible facility for the disposal of official work through the information technology. He added the registration of vehicles through authorised dealers would help in rapid service delivery, transparency and making the system at par with international standard.
He maintained that the vehicle dealers’ cooperation and keen interest was imperative to make this scheme a success.
The DC urged the dealers to come forward and get their names registered with the Punjab Excise & Taxation Department.
He emphasised upon the dealers to get complete information and details of the scheme and work without any ambiguity.
On the occasion, Excise Director Ahmad Saeed briefed the meeting about the salient feature of the vehicle registration scheme and objectives of introducing it.

He said the dealers registered with the excise department could make the registration of the vehicles and issue the number plates after receiving relevant documents.
He added the number plates would be provided in advance to the authorised vehicle dealers only.
He said the dealers could charge fee of Rs500 for motorcycles and Rs2,000 for car registration.
