Court gives verdict in Faisal Saleh's favour

The end to Pakistan Football Federation's infighting could be nigh

KARACHI: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday vetoed the appointment of justice (retired) Asad Munir as administrator of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and allowed the federation’s actual office bearers to function.

Faisal Saleh Hayat was elected the president of the PFF; however, the result went into litigation after Punjab Sports Board started intervening into the federation’s affairs and Hayat’s rival Arshad Khan Lodhi also challenged the outcome.

A single bench comprising of Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan had appointed Munir as administrator of the PFF to run its affairs till the conclusion of the legal wrangling.

The decision was then challenged by the PFF before a division bench through an Intra Court Appeal.

As a result, the bench — headed by Justice Ayesha A Malik — has ordered Munir to relinquish the charge immediately and has also sought details of the expenditures made during his tenure.
