SWAT: The Pakistan Army and district administration have joined hands to register Non-Customs Paid (NCP) vehicles and slap a permanent ban on ‘cut vehicles’ in Malakand division.

“Registration centres for computerised vehicles registration will be set up at selected police stations across Malakand division. These centres will allot uniform number to the NCP vehicles,” said Brigadier Zafar Iqbal on Saturday in a press conference held at Army-circuit house at Saidu Sharif in Swat.

“All the previous registration numbers for the NCP vehicles will be cancelled and soon a date for new computerised registration number will be scheduled,” he said, adding that only the NCP vehicles having new computerised registration numbers would now be allowed to ply in Malakand division.

Brig Iqbal said the data collected about the NCP vehicles in Malakand division and their new registration number would be shared with provincial and federal excise and taxation departments.

“Sharing information with the federal and provincial offices of excise and taxation will help the law enforcement agencies to trace any NCP vehicle if it gets lost or is used in any other malicious act,” he said.

He said owners of the NCP vehicle would bring attested document of the vehicle to get registration number.

“The vehicle’s documents will be given to district police, district administration and the military police for verification and the registered number will be given at the end of verification,” he added.

Brig Iqbal said ‘cut vehicles’ which are made from scrapped parts will not be given registration number and will be banned forever.
