PESHAWAR: Women lawmakers belonging to the PTI in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly continued their boycott of the session for the second day running on Thursday to press for their demands.

“We want equal respect like our male lawmakers,” said a PTI woman lawmaker who was among the protesters. She on the condition of anonymity said the reason behind their boycott was “lack of respect for them in the house”.

They have been agitating over what they alleged as not being heard in the party or in the government. In addition, they have been demanding a fair share in development schemes for their constituencies.

Meanwhile, lawmakers of the JI and PPP exchanged harsh words after the latter pointed out quorum, forcing the deputy speaker to adjourn the sitting.
