KARACHI: Seven police officials have been charged with the murder of a suspect during interrogation.

Thull police raided Mohammad Murad Sarki village early Thursday morning and arrested Manzoor Sarki for his alleged involvement in motorcycle theft.

The suspect was taken to Thull police station for interrogation. Sardar Zulfiqar Sarki said Manzoor was brutally tortured and he died in police custody.

When the Sarki clansmen found out, they attacked the Thull police station and beat up the SHO and other officials, who managed to escape.

Later, the protesters surrounded the police station and demanded a case be registered against the policemen involved in the murder. Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party MPA Mir Hassan Khoso negotiated with the protesters and assured them of justice, after which they dispersed.

An FIR was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Allah Rakhio Sarki, against the seven policemen including Thull SHO Asif Pechoho.
