Discussion: Role of town planners discussed at seminar 

Discussion included the role of students of the city and regional planning towards social development in Pakistan

LAHORE: Agricultural growth and livestock sector are very important for the stability of Pakistan, said Meiji-Gakuin University, Japan Professor Emeritus Prof Dr Shigemochi Hirashima.

He was speaking at a seminar titled ‘The Role of Town Planners for Social Development in Pakistan’ organised at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Department of City & Regional Planning on Wednesday.

The professor correlated the worsen economic situation in the contemporary world with the real estate bubble situation in South Asia in general and Pakistan in particular. He also emphasised the role of students of the city and regional planning towards social development in Pakistan. “Students of the department could contribute towards growth of the country in a sustainable way,” he said.

At the end of the session, a question answer session was held between the students and the guests. After the seminar, the guests visited the VC Office and had an interactive discussion with him.
