Mobile hacking: Govt alerted to Indian cyber espionage

FAISALABAD: The federal government has directed the authorities concerned to take preventive measures against cyber warfare after it emerged that hostile Indian agencies had developed ‘links to hack mobiles of Pakistanis’.

In an official communication issued to all federal ministries, departments, including provincial governments by the Federal Cabinet Division National Telecom & Information Technology Security Board (NITSB), a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the government has issued SOPs against such ‘malicious link(s)’.

Beware of this latest WhatsApp scam

According to the directive, “WhatsApp has recently launched a video calling feature. Because of the popularity of WhatsApp, hackers are taking advantage and sending false emails and message to install malicious app under the garb of enabling WhatsApp video feature.”

It pointed out that “the reported links are developed by Indians; therefore, it is evident that Indian hostile agencies are attempting to hack mobiles of Pakistani users.
