Separate stalls for female shopkeepers

The government is also extending interest-free loans to women to help them set up their own businesses

LAHORE: Under the women package, separate stalls for women shopkeepers have been reserved in Sunday Bazaars across the province.

Punjab Minister for Women Development Department (WDD) Hameeda Waheedud inaugurated stalls at Model Town Link Road on Sunday.

“Allocation of stalls in Sunday Bazaars for women shopkeepers is another milestone achieved by the WDD with the help of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the City District Government,” she said.

The minister added women shopkeepers can apply for the registration of their stalls. She added that women are being empowered through various initiatives for achieving self-reliance besides contributing to the process of national progress and prosperity.

The government is also extending interest-free loans to women to help them set up their own businesses and stand on their feet.

She also inspected various stalls and inquired the women shopkeepers about facilities being offered to them.

Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Shazia Suleman, Director Women Development Dr Shahla Javed were also present at the event.
