The beauty of Pakistan and its people



A treasure trove of images that pay tribute to Pakistani people and culture opens at Nomad Gallery today in a photographic exhibition titled ‘Way Sab to Sohneya’.


Freelance photographer Umair Ghani captures faces and activities that depict vibrant and heart warming diversity of the cultural motif of his land.

His images are a product of his travels across Pakistan, from Thar Desert to the mighty Himalayas, being enamoured with a quest to explore the unprecedented beauty of the country’s people and culture.

This is his first solo exhibition.

Ghani, 44, lives in Lahore and has been photographing since 2000. His work has
been published in several parts of the globe and won many national and international awards, including the Prime Minister’s Special Award
in 2005.

Most of the photographs in his exhibition at Nomad are in Rs9000-Rs11,000 range, while a few are up to Rs25,000. Print sizes vary from 12*18  inches to 12*36 inches and 20*24 inches.

Nageen Hyat, director Nomad said, “Ghani is a dedicated and brilliant photorapher with a lot of international exposure.”

She added, “Photography is a medium that deserves to be given more exposure. The way Ghani is representing Pakistani culture is commendable.”

The exhibition opens on Thursday and will continue till March 28.
