KARACHI:

Sindh Senior Minister and Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon strongly condemned hateful and linguistically-biased speeches delivered at a recent ceremony at the Governor House, describing the choice of words and ideas as deeply regrettable.

Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, Memon called Sindh the land of Sufis, peace, and tolerance, and recalled Karachi's painful history of hatred, prejudice, and linguistic tension. He warned that similar remarks have previously inflicted severe and lasting damage on the city's social fabric.

The Sindh minister also criticised inappropriate references to state institutions during the event, held a few days ago, saying such discussions are not suitable for a constitutional platform and undermine civic harmony.

Memon expressed concern over elected representatives using such platforms to deliver biased messages, noting that the incident, particularly involving MQM members, addressing each other, threatens Karachi's culture of peace and brotherhood.
