Chennai Express producer Karim Morani booked for rape

Producer said to be close to Shah Rukh Khan

Over the years, many Bollywood celebrities have come under the scanner for sexual assault.

While Shakti Kapoor was shamed for offering aspiring actresses 'opportunities' in exchange for sex, Shiney Ahuja ended up in prison after a rape probe. Now, Chennai Express producer Karim Morani has been accused of rape, Hindustan Times reported. The producer had allegedly promised to marry the victim who is around 25 years old.



“She accused Morani of raping her on different occasions in Mumbai and here (Hyderabad) by promising to marry her. The alleged incident took place during 2015,” the senior police officer said, adding “We have taken up the investigation,” a senior police official said.

The producer remained unavailable for comments. He is said to be close to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
