Anti-terror strategy: Maintaining peace top priority: Shehbaz

Directs officials to start working on launching Safe City in six more cities

LAHORE: Improving the law and order situation in the province is the top priority of the government and effective measures have been taken to protect life and property of the people and ensure the rule of law, said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.

Addressing a meeting held to review the security situation and the Safe City project, the CM said the ongoing crackdown against criminals would continue without any break and discrimination as the steps taken to prevent crime and eliminate terrorism had produced positive results.

Punjab, Shehbaz said, was the only province where the Safe City project had been launched and all out efforts were being made to implement the project on time with the highest possible standard.

He directed officials to start efforts for launching the Safe City project in six more cities of the province. He also advised the departments concerned to work in close coordination with each other to implement this project.



Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah, Col (retd) Muhammad Ayub, Jehangir Khanzada, adviser Rana Maqbool Ahmed, chief secretary, police chief, home secretary and officials of other departments were also present at the meeting.

In a separate meeting with Punjab Anti-Terrorism Minister Ayub, Shehbaz said there was no space for terrorism, extremism or sectarianism in Pakistan and pledged all-out efforts for development, prosperity and peace in the country.

The CM said significant decline in incidents of terrorism and sectarianism had been witnessed due to the effective measures taken under the National Action Plan (NAP). “Elimination of terrorism is our goal,” he said.
