MARDAN: A day after footage of a juvenile helper sitting in the boot of a vehicle in the twin cities surfaced, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa lawmaker whose wife the car has been assigned claimed the child elected to sit there.

Talking to The Express Tribune, MPA Ubaidullah Mayar said the child hailed from a family employed by him. He said his family was visiting a Rawalpindi park when the maid insisted on sitting there. His wife is an Independent Monitoring Unit official.

K-P Education Minister Atif Khan has ordered a probe into the incident. Separately, Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani has warned of “strict action”.
