For the farmers: UVAS to see new academic block next year

Welfare and development of poor farmers was the top priority of the livestock and dairy development department

LAHORE: Construction work on another University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) academic block started on Wednesday.

Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department Secretary Naseem Sadiq, along with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, formally inaugurated the construction work. The block will be completed in 16 months at an estimated cost of Rs94.419 million. It will consist of lecture rooms, seminar and conference halls, laboratories, an amphitheatre and faculty offices.

Speaking on the occasion, Naseem said that the welfare and development of poor farmers was the top priority of the livestock and dairy development department. As a result, they were being facilitated at their doorsteps across the province.

Talking about various livestock issues, especially various animal diseases, he said it was good that the UVAS and the livestock department were working together to facilitate poor farmers.

He added that various training programmes conducted by the university for the officers/officials of the livestock department had brought a positive behavioural change.
