Completion date: Gomal Zam project to be ready by 2018   

1,000 kilometers of irrigated land in the area would be constructed that would help boost economic activities

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Gomal Zam Command Area Development Project being executed at a cost of over Rs3 billion would be completed by September 2018, according to an official source. Under the project, which is expected to bring green revolution in the area and as many as 393 water channels, 1,000 kilometers of irrigated agricultural land in the area would be constructed that would help boost economic activities. Project director Rab Nawaz said the mega project of Gomal Zam Command Area scheme would give impetus to agricultural development in the area, which had been lying either barren or unproductive due to water scarcity, adding it would irrigate 87,700 hectares of land in Kulachi, over 94,000 hectare of tank and about 8,000 hectare of Dera Ismail Khan.
